The Human Voice The King Or Queen Of All Musical Instruments Why You Should Choose To Earn A Health Care Degree Online Washington D C Teacher Recognized For Excellence By Congress 5 Reasons To Study A Foreign Language
There a one liner made famous in the old TV detective show Dragnet “the facts ma am. nothing but the facts.” I don’t know if Jack Webb was a musician or a teacher, but considering that the study of music is infinite I better take his advice.
I am in the “October” of my life and I think , I finally understand a least man-made music and his conception of it. Asking questions and reading books or any literature on the subject has sort of satisfied my quest for the “whys” of music. I have been practicing how to do this or that for years and years but the “whys” can set the creative mind to take off, so no more “can’t get no satisfaction….” Since the infinite is to deep for me, lets deal with man made music.
I have come to the conclusion that all man made musical instruments have to be in the range of the human voice, a little higher or lower that’s O.K. If not, they will become obsolete.
The human voice has kept man made music earth bound and the amazing things it that it range or distance is on the average only two and one half octaves! That’s Johnny Cash territory and not Andrea Bucelli who really likes to stretch it, and its made him famous. The human voice is a marvelous instrument, the king and queen of all!
The well trained voice is fantastic with its ability to achieve its wide range of notes, like a diamond with its many facets. The fantastic Australian guitarist Tommy Emmanuel has composed a beautiful piece for guitar entitled “Angelina” but during the piece he hums in harmony with his finger picking and its beautiful. Check it out on Youtube.
My point again is the ultimate superiority of the human voice. Show me any instrumentalist, as good as he may be, that can match the drawing power of an Andrea Bucelli or your favorite who if he or she is real good can fill a stadium! So the bottom line is I like to sing and have Tommy Emmanuel be my accompanist, whaoo! That would be awesome!
The human voice has another big advantage. The power of the spoken word. A great Speaker, let alone a great singer has a powerful tool at his disposal. It can get you emotionally. Listen again to the late Harry Chapin sing his wife’s composition “cats in the cradle” or Roy Clarke’s “Yesterday when I was young” These examples of favorite powerful songs are not sung very often because the singer has a hard time emotionally singing it. That words are that powerful. If you are not affected you will have to fake it, I guarantee it!
Well I have enjoyed this, but it time to start training the king. Hey, it very takes a lot of discipline, but its worth it! Thanks for reading.
Earning your health care degree online can help provide you with a better education and a more complete set of skills than traditional classroom settings provide. Many people want to help others and choose a career in health care for a personally fulfilling line of work. Acquiring a health care degree online may allow individuals to aim for better positions in the work force and provide room for growth to higher salaries.
Choice and Quality of Programs
Program options for online education are increasing. Individuals can invest in the areas and number of courses they prefer, from taking a course or two in criminal justice courses to acquiring a health care degree online. Businesses and employers recognize online education to be just as good as degrees earned in traditional settings, and many employers respect the self-motivation and determination of those who choose independent study to get ahead.
Employers also recognize that online education has vastly improved in the area of quality. The material studied in courses for a health care degree online is no different from courses taught in classrooms or on campuses. In fact, online courses may provide a better quality of education, as material is concise and usually very focused. Traditional classroom courses involve lectures that can get sidetracked by questions or discussions. With online courses, recorded lectures stay on topic the length of the audio program.
Studying for a health care degree online involves plenty of flexibility for the student. While traditional learning involves students gathering in auditoriums for lectures, online education involves only the student and the course material and the environment for learning is the student’s choice. Any setting is fine for listening to audio lectures, thanks to the technology of mp3 players. Many students prefer copying their lectures from CD to mp3 player, taking their courses on the go. Combining another activity with listening to lectures, such as exercising at the gym, taking walks, or going for a bike ride, can both save time and make learning more interesting and enjoyable.
Working While Studying
The advantages of studying for a health care degree online come mainly from the ability to earn credits towards a degree while still working, an attractive option to many people.
Attending school on campus in a traditional setting may mean a full-time commitment for students for a period of two years or more. Working during spare hours isn’t often an option, and the student cannot earn income while studying or becomes stressed while trying to put in a full day at school and then another long shift at a job.
Obtaining a health care degree online means that students can choose to study the number of courses they prefer, allowing them to keep their full-time job and work towards earning a degree as well. That situation may mean that the student takes longer to obtain his or her degree, but does so with less debt and also meeting financial responsibilities. The flexibility of being able to earn an income while working towards a health care degree online is appealing.
Location of Student
Location may also be a factor in choosing to earn a degree online or at an educational facility. For those individuals who live in rural areas outside cities where schools are often located or who cannot travel to the school of their choice, online education is a viable and solid option to increasing knowledge and skill. Earning a health care degree online is as attainable to the student living beside a campus as it is for the student living in a tiny town tucked away far from any metropolitan city.
The choice of deciding to earn your health care degree online or in traditional classroom setting depends on your preference for independent study and flexibility, as well as your location, family situation, and financial obligations. Whichever form of education you choose to receive, increasing knowledge and skill levels boosts your appeal to potential employers and provides opportunity for higher salaries or better positions in the field of health care.

Washington, DC- Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) today introduced a congressional resolution recognizing Kim Burke-Ables, a science teacher at Washington D.C. schools ‘ Benjamin Banneker Academic High School, on her selection as the District of Columbia Teacher of the Year for 2006, and “congratulating her for her exceptional dedication to the students and her excellence as a teacher.” Burke-Ables has been teaching at Banneker for three years and has received praise for developing creative ways to motivate her students to learn and understand biology, life sciences, human anatomy and physiology, and chemistry. She has contributed to making this Washington D.C. school competitive and relevant in student lives.
Student Turned Congresswoman Praises Washington D.C. Schools
Norton, who went to Banneker when it was a junior high school, said that she was pleased that, “Banneker’s excellence is attributed in no small part to the excellence of Kim Burke-Ables and others like her, although the school building looks as it did when I was a seventh grade kid and Banneker was a junior high school.” Norton recently announced that she intends to make a priority for the coming year federal tax credits for Washington D.C. school bonds so that Washington D.C. school systems can more quickly rebuild or repair old schools like Banneker. “Banneker’s excellence despite the limitations and the age of its facilities is the inspiration any of us should need to make old schools like Banneker fit for what Kim Burke-Ables and other teachers do inside.”
In honoring Burke-Ables, Norton also expressed appreciation to Banneker Principal Anita Berger for providing an environment for enriched academic growth and development and to other Washington D.C. school principals and teachers “for their commitment and service to the education of the city’s children.” The resolution congratulated Banneker’s designation in the May 21, 2006 edition of Newsweek Magazine as one of the nation’s best high schools. The national recognition of one Washington D.C. school and its teachers has brought pride and high expectations for Washington D.C. school students and parents alike.
Exemplary Teaching at Washington D.C. Schools
Burke-Ables was among elected officials, educators and residents who recently attended a Capitol Hill reception Norton sponsored in recognition of 2005 National Teacher of the Year Jason Kamras of Sousa Middle School, who preceded Burke-Ables as the D.C. Teacher of the Year. Kamras is the only Washington D.C. school teacher to win the competition for National Teacher of the Year, the oldest and most prestigious national honors program that focuses public attention on excellence in teaching.
This is not the first time Burke-Ables has received prestigious educational awards. In 2004, she was selected to work as an educational consultant to the National Academies of Science and won a TEACH Fellowship (Teaching Educators Agriculture and Conservation Holistically) with the U.S. Department of Agriculture to travel to Ghana, West Africa. In 2003, the Milken Family Foundation gave the science teacher the District of Columbia Milken Educator Award. All of these awards have contributed to her outstanding performance as a science teacher for Washington D.C. schools.
Many schools or universities require the study of a foreign language. Before you start resenting the very idea of it, consider that it could be to your advantage for you to study and master a foreign language. Make no mistake about it: the whole world does NOT speak English. For anyone who has travelled to anywhere but the very largest of the world’s capitals, local people still primarily speak the local language and not English. To speak with them, the only way to do so will be to learn their language.
Here are 5 reasons to why you should study a foreign language:
1. Meet new friends: Learning a foreign language opens up the door to your getting to know more people and expanding your social network. If you are studying a language such as Spanish, Portuguese, or Chinese that is spoken by a large percentage of the population, you will be literally potentially tapping into a communication network with hundreds of millions of people that was previously off limits to you. If you are studying a less popular language, just think how much more valuable you will be since there are fewer foreign speakers of it.
2. Become a more globally-viable businessperson: In the world of business, communication is king. It does not matter how well you can program a computer, do accounting, or design new products: if you cannot communicate with other people, you will not find the success you deserve in the business world. Learning to communicate in a foreign language effectively increases your value as a communicator. And, many people who become proficient in a foreign language end up actually improving their skills as a communicator in their native language, as well. Learning a foreign language makes you a better communicator overall, and it therefore makes you a more attractive employee or partner in the world of business.
3. Expand your mind: Speaking a foreign language with fluency truly means switching channels to another way of thinking. Once you become fluent enough in the foreign language you are studying, you will find your consciousness actually expanding to accommodate your new ability. Each language has its own set of vocabulary, phrases, and concepts that do not directly translate to other languages. The result for multilingual people is that they actually force their neurons to grow and connect in new ways. Effectively, you become a little bit smarter and more mentally flexible.
4. Become more attractive: Looking to impress your husband, wife, date, or that cute person that you see whenever you go shopping? Becoming conversant in a foreign language is a great way to bring yourself up a notch on the attractiveness scale. People who expand their horizons are almost always perceived as more attractive than those who are always happy with the same-old stuff, year after year.
5. Understand the world better: The world is getting smaller. Leaders and individuals in different countries are making decisions each day that affect all of us in economic, environmental, and political terms. By studying a foreign language, you equip yourself with an additional lens through which to view the actions, thoughts, and worldviews of other people. This will help you make more balanced decisions about how to act or react when you learn about world events.
Mastering a foreign language can be quite a challenge, but for each new word you memorize, for each new verb you learn to conjugate, you will be making yourself more interesting, more economically viable, and even a bit smarter and more attractive..
