If you want to maintain a slim figure, it is necessary to cut down on dinner. A little amount of both protein and carbohydrates and a generous supply of fruits and vegetables will do the trick. A glass of milk before sleeping is a healthy way to end the day.

Snacks must be taken in small amounts only. If possible, consume mostly fruits to be certain that they will not make you lose appetite for the next meal. A little bite of chocolate, a scoop of ice cream, or a gulp of wine will not hurt; but everything must be taken in moderation. If your stomach already hurts and you could not walk upright, you’ve had more than enough.

In a recent article titled “Internet use threatens to overtake TV in Canada” it discusses the threat of online marketing to traditional media sources in Canada. This isn’t a a threat anymore in the US. It is a fact.

An article written by Thomas Mucha from Business 2.0 says:

People are spending more time online than watching TV, which gives marketers a better chance to reach consumers in a place where they are just one click away from making a purchase. “More than 75 percent of companies using the Internet to advertise report confidence in their return on investment,” writes the study’s lead author, Jupiter Research senior analyst Gary Stein. This confidence, Stein argues, will sustain spending momentum across all the key online ad areas: paid search, display ads, classified ads, and rich media.

Interesting to note that two studies are similar. Although The Ipsos Reid study of Canada claims radio is losing more interest than TV in Canada, it may soon lose to the Internet as well.

Mr. Mucha claims 40 percent of total spending by 2010 will be paid advertisements on Google, Yahoo and MSN to an estimate of $19 billion per year. Not much wonder why the search engines are trying to dominate each other and the marketplace. The one that becomes the most popular will also make the most money.

What will become of the little guy? Will it put an end to buying keywords for ad placement on search engines? Will the small business owner get shoved out of the picture? Maybe not altogether… but let’s face it. If GM decides they want to use the keywords you are using, can you afford to compete? The search engines will be laughing “all the way to the bank” and the cost per clicks will just keeping going up… (he-he) similar to the price of gasoline at the pumps these days.

“Several people have also predicted that Yahoo! or MSN may take up similar techniques to help stop spam. This phenomenon could seriously undermine new SEO/Ms and new campaigns, but it is a possibility. My recommendation is not to discount this possibility and launch projects or at least holding sites and their promotional efforts ASAP. The web environment right now is still relatively friendly to new sites, but will certainly become more competitive and unforgiving with time, no matter what search engine filters exist.”

Jupiter’s study shows that “73 percent of Americans who use the Internet have made a purchase online and four out of five of these potential shoppers have responded to an online ad.”

According to Dr. Roberto Pacifici, chief of endocrinology at Emory University, genetics plays a major role in determining bone health. He also cited the following variables as significant to having strong bones during the prime age of 12 to 20 years old:

* Normal Types of Medication

* Normal Physical Activity

Pacifi emphasized the need for young women to make sure that their estrogen production levels are normal by having normal menstrual periods, which is usually achieved through proper nutrition. Young women should also avoid taking certain medications that inhibit estrogen production, such as steroids and cortisone. Having a low body weight is also a factor in skeletal growth. Although eating disorders may cause a small group of women to have low body weight, serious athletes like competitive runners and gymnasts make up the larger group that is at risk. While physical activity is good, it can be unhealthy when done in excess amounts of time and level of exertion.

But as women mature from 20 to around 50 years old, things change and the guidelines become more centered on moderation. Pacifici advised moderate alcohol intake, or limiting to only two drinks a day since over three drinks a day would be considered excessive. He believes the best way for women in this age-group to keep their bones strong is to keep their body weight within normal levels and make sure that they engage in regular exercise.

It is at this stage that women need to start taking a calcium supplement. The National Osteoporosis Foundation recommends that women under 50 get 1,000 milligrams of calcium per day. Calcium is essential to get sufficient amounts of vitamin D. It has been noted that lack of awareness about the importance of supplementation has caused many people to have vitamin D deficiency. Vitamin D is necessary for our bodies to effectively absorb calcium.

Most women will experience the onset of bone loss at the age of 50, or about 3 years prior to menopause. The amount will depend on how well those bones were treated up to that point. Pacifici says most women start experiencing bone loss about three years prior to menopause — which is the reason why many doctors recommend women to increase their calcium intake to 1,500 milligrams daily.

Osteoporosis is considered a silent disease with no obvious symptoms until bones begin to fracture or break easily. Doctors advise women to get a bone density screening test done by taking an X-ray of a woman’s lower spine and hip area. It can be done anytime after menopause. But those with a family history of osteoporosis are at high risk and should get this screening done when they go through menopause.

According to Pacifici, the test is similar to a cholesterol screening, which is neither painful nor extremely expensive. But the significance of the test lies in the opportunity to gain information on how people can improve their chances of living happy, healthy lives in the future.
