Your Trunk S Saving Grace Performance Driving Burning Rubber When What You See Is What You Get Dodge Magnum Rt 2006 Car Review Eos Volkswagen S New Convertible
Do you remember when was the last time you looked in your trunk? Statistics have it that the trunk is oftentimes one of the most neglected parts and areas of a vehicle. Also, it is in fact one of the most overlooked and mostly taken for granted parts. Remember that for most of your car’s lifetime, you only remember the trunk when you need to put or get something out of it.
More often than not, we store various types of things inside the trunk. And sometimes, these things that we put inside contain various materials and elements that could harm the trunk. So, as a car owner, it is important that you know how to protect and keep your trunk in good condition. Of course, you would like to have a trunk in good condition for if not, where would you be storing and hauling your share of cargo?
To save your trunk from degradation, you have to collect first everything you need before you start on your big project. You would be needing a bed liner spray that would work on your vehicle’s trunk. There are some that are used to line truck beds. You can ask around auto parts stores. Also, you would need a paint spray gun, a compressor, masking tape, lacquer thinner, sandpaper, and paper.
First, you should be able to strip your car’s trunk if it has carpet. Then, clean the surface thoroughly. Try to sand down any high sports or rough spots that may have found their way to your car trunk’s walls or floor. Make sure that you get the surfaces as smooth as possible. This is to ensure that when you use the bed liner spray, it would actually take much hold on the paint.
When you have done so, mask off the border of the trunk with the masking tape. Remember to cover up all parts that do not need any spraying. Remove your car’s seat. Spread then the paper you have around the area so that your car’s interior would not be receiving any kind of overspray. Make sure that you tape parts of the paper so that the spray would not get through the cracks.
Wipe the lacquer thinner in your car’s trunk. This actually helps the bed liner spray get its grip. Mix the adhesive of the spray and stir for around a minute. Make sure that you follow the directions that came along with the spray. Then, spray it where you would like it to be. Then, mix the lining part of the spray and stir for around a minute. Pour this mixture into the spray gun paint reservoir and use this to apply the liner throughout the trunk. When done, carefully remove the masking tape and paper and let it dry according to the specifications given by the liner package.
This is part of a possible small series of articles we are writing for the performance minded individuals, you can find more at Spool Motorsports.com Articles
Here at Spool Motorsports.com we recognize the many and different types of driving styles there are… drag racing, circuit, time attacks, drifting, rally and thousands more. So let us help you transfer some of the styles that are universal back to your daily driving of your sports car.
So let’s start with burning rubber! Don’t you love it when you smash on that throttle, squeal those tires and burn ‘em rubbers? Yeah, well what you just did is waste precious seconds from which ever run you are making. Why you may ask? Your car doesn’t move when you “burn rubber”, it just stays in one place, spinning tires while the rest of the world passes you by.
So you are going to ask me why do I see professional drivers doing just that part? Well the main reason and I don’t think you might understand are those cars that drive at the highest speeds possible don’t really use 1st or 2nd gear like a daily driver does. The gear itself is going to be “tall”, which means that it takes a lot more gas and higher RPM to make the car move in 1st or 2nd. Consequently, the tires will screech no matter what they do or not they won’t be able to keep the engine running at such high RPM’s.
But what if you are drag racing? Ah yes the famous burn outs. Now let’s take in consideration that they use an extremely soft compound on their tires and the purpose is to warm them up so that they become “sticky”. Now look at what happens when there are going to launch for their run… Any tire spin is a fatal mistake. So are their benefits of such behavior in a normal daily driving car? That depends on your compounds. Your tire manufacturer wants those tires to last long so that you can say you spend $200 dollars on tires and had to replace them after 6 months. So the compounds, comparatively speaking, are a lot harder. You would have to create such a burn out that you are literally destroying the tires more than you would ever want too, but if you have the money…
Produced under the Jaguar name, the Jaguar XJ is crafted as a saloon or sedan and was first launched in September of 1968. Trivia has it that this saloon is the last of its kind to still contain Sir William Lyons’, the found of the Jaguar company, input and detail. The XJ designation was given from the car’s code name during its development which actually stood for Experimental Jaguar. Lyons’ himself had advertised this vehicle which he fondly referred to as “the finest Jaguar ever”. That time, it held a 5.3 liter V12 engine.
The present 2006 Jaguar XJ series has been constructed to sport four doors and can take in a maximum of five passengers. It is considered to be under the luxury sedan or luxury sports sedan category. It has also been made available in six trims that ranges from the XJ8 up to the Super V8 Portfolio. This series has been freshened for 2006. The XJ8 is equipped with a standard 4.2 liter V8 engine that could produce 300 horsepower and could achieve 18 mpg in the city and 27 in highway driving. The Super V8 Portfolio, meanwhile, features a standard 4.2 liter V8 engine with 400 horsepower that can speed up to 17 mpg in the city and 24 mpg on the highway.
The UK Department of Transport has shown that the Jaguar XJ series are the safest on UK roads. These have been measured according to the chance of death in an accident and also according to road accident statistics that this department has studied and analyzed. It is approximately three times safer than the safest Volvo models.
Driving and riding the 2006 Jaguar XJ provides great comfort. This is due to the vehicle’s considerable sprung weight that is due in part to the massive steel, glass and leather bushing that cushions the occupants’ bodies and the road surface. It has been made longer, wider, and taller than its predecessors. It also has been constructed with an advanced aluminum frame. Standard for this new vehicle are safety features like anti lock brakes, Brake Assist, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, as well as front, side, and head curtain airbags. Wind noise is lessened greatly so much so that the interior remains to be quiet. This vehicle offers a tight, smooth, and refined driving experience.
Luxury of contemporary standards is what the 2006 Jaguar XJ’s interior provides for it has been specially refurnished and redesigned so as to meet the needs of today’s demanding car customers who are clamoring for prestige. This vehicle also provides and gives out warmth and richness. Space is something to be excited about for since the vehicle holds much of this in its headroom, legroom, and shoulder room. It is also considerably lighter than the old model. Its V8 power engine is quite legendary and could become a heritage in itself.

The new Magnum is a great looking car that will get your neighbors talking as you rumble around the block. The unique styling of the Magnum will also attract gawkers in the form of 18-22 year old guys pointing for their friends to “check that out”. And a few people will approach you as you are filling up the gas tank to ask, “Does it really have a Hemi?”, with only a vague notion that it somehow makes the car better.
The Magnum is offered with many different engine sizes (either a 6-cylinder or 8-cylinder) with your choice of horsepower output of 190, 250, 340 and 425. The price of the vehicle also corresponds with the engine size starting at $30,345 to the expensive STR-8 model for $37,320. A big part of the mystique around this car is the Hemi engine. The Hemi is short for hemispherical combustion chamber, which creates more efficient fuel burning and allows larger valves for better airflow. Basically, it produces more power than an engine with its displacement would normally produce. (There are also drawbacks to the Hemi, which is why it isn’t the only engine that Chrysler produces).
The interior of the car looks much more expensive than you’d expect for the price of the Magnum. Since Mercedes bought Chrysler, the Dodge vehicles I’ve sampled have had a sharp improvement in interior quality. While on the road, the car is very solid and the seats are comfortable even on long highway runs.
As much as I like the looks, after driving it a while I really have to question the design concept that the Magnum offers. It is a station wagon built to transport a lot of people and a lot of stuff. But mating this with a powerful engine with the taught racing-like suspension is uncomfortable for both. It is like having a Corvette tow a small trailer, and you are in the trailer and the Corvette driver is 15 years-old, pushing the car to its limits. (Only an actual Corvette has a much more comfortable suspension than the Magnum). Even driving on smooth roads, the steering is very darty and difficult to control. And with a large car, all that weaving and road feedback is exaggerated for the passengers and everything you’ve stored in the back.
I like having a navigation system, but figuring out how to use it with the steering wheel controls made me frequently refer to the user’s manual. In spite of the high horsepower and low-end torque I played with when starting from a full stop, the RT model I drove averaged 20 MPG on the higway.
What I presume to be the target market for this car, those 18-22 year-old guys that I mentioned, will probably love this car. And as much as I love driving sports cars, the darty steering and sharp suspension make it too uncomfortable without any spectacular payoff. The 0-60 sprint is fun for a little while, but I’d pass on buying a Magnum as a daily driving vehicle.
The world is meeting the Eos, an all-new convertible produced and running under the umbrella of Volkswagen. The recent list of new Volkswagen vehicles holds a 24-hour roadside assistance for four years along with unlimited mileage. The Volkswagen Eos also comes with that along with other warranties like a five-year/60,000 mile Powertrain Limited Warranty, a four-year/50,000 mile New Vehicle Limited Warranty with wear and tear items and adjustments excluded after the initial 12 months/12,000 miles, and a 12-year unlimited distance Limited Warranty against corrosion perforation.
This new vehicle from Volkswagen would soon be arriving in showrooms this coming fall. This is according to the announcement given by Volkswagen of America just recently. The Volkswagen Eos is a convertible that holds four seats. It also features a revolutionary three-panel roof which actually transforms a hardtop coupe roof with an integrated sunroof to an open convertible.
The power of this vehicle comes from two engine choices. These comprise of the 2.0 liter turbo engine with four cylinders which can produce some 200 units of horsepower, and the narrow angle V6 engine that produces 250 units of horsepower.
The Volkswagen Eos comes with a wide range of features to keep customers happy and content. The list includes a high-quality Electronic Stabilization Program (ESP), safety-optimized front headrests, front airbags, specially developed front side head-thorax airbags, 16-inch alloy wheels, an air conditioning system, fog lights, a panoramic sunroof, power windows, and a cruise control system.
The vehicle has been marketed to be quite an agile one. It also holds safe handling characteristics for a better driving and riding experience. The company claims that this capacity of the Volkswagen Eos is due to its length and height as well as width. All in all, the Volkswagen Eos boasts of a powerful appearance..
