Do you remember when was the last time you looked in your trunk? Statistics have it that the trunk is oftentimes one of the most neglected parts and areas of a vehicle. Also, it is in fact one of the most overlooked and mostly taken for granted parts. Remember that for most of your car’s lifetime, you only remember the trunk when you need to put or get something out of it.

More often than not, we store various types of things inside the trunk. And sometimes, these things that we put inside contain various materials and elements that could harm the trunk. To save your trunk from degradation, you have to collect first everything you need before you start on your big project. Also, you would need a paint spray gun, a compressor, masking tape, lacquer thinner, sandpaper, and paper.

First, you should be able to strip your car’s trunk if it has carpet. Then, clean the surface thoroughly. Try to sand down any high sports or rough spots that may have found their way to your car trunk’s walls or floor. Make sure that you get the surfaces as smooth as possible. This is to ensure that when you use the bed liner spray, it would actually take much hold on the paint.

When you have done so, mask off the border of the trunk with the masking tape. Remember to cover up all parts that do not need any spraying. Remove your car’s seat. Spread then the paper you have around the area so that your car’s interior would not be receiving any kind of overspray. Make sure that you tape parts of the paper so that the spray would not get through the cracks.

Wipe the lacquer thinner in your car’s trunk. This actually helps the bed liner spray get its grip. Mix the adhesive of the spray and stir for around a minute. Make sure that you follow the directions that came along with the spray. Then, spray it where you would like it to be. Then, mix the lining part of the spray and stir for around a minute. Pour this mixture into the spray gun paint reservoir and use this to apply the liner throughout the trunk. When done, carefully remove the masking tape and paper and let it dry according to the specifications given by the liner package.

Yeah, well what you just did is waste precious seconds from which ever run you are making. Why you may ask? Your car doesn’t move when you “burn rubber”, it just stays in one place, spinning tires while the rest of the world passes you by.

So you are going to ask me why do I see professional drivers doing just that part? Well the main reason and I don’t think you might understand are those cars that drive at the highest speeds possible don’t really use 1st or 2nd gear like a daily driver does. The gear itself is going to be “tall”, which means that it takes a lot more gas and higher RPM to make the car move in 1st or 2nd. Consequently, the tires will screech no matter what they do or not they won’t be able to keep the engine running at such high RPM’s.

But what if you are drag racing? Ah yes the famous burn outs. Now let’s take in consideration that they use an extremely soft compound on their tires and the purpose is to warm them up so that they become “sticky”. Now look at what happens when there are going to launch for their run… Any tire spin is a fatal mistake. So are their benefits of such behavior in a normal daily driving car? That depends on your compounds. Your tire manufacturer wants those tires to last long so that you can say you spend $200 dollars on tires and had to replace them after 6 months. So the compounds, comparatively speaking, are a lot harder. You would have to create such a burn out that you are literally destroying the tires more than you would ever want too, but if you have the money…

Produced under the Jaguar name, the Jaguar XJ is crafted as a saloon or sedan and was first launched in September of 1968. Trivia has it that this saloon is the last of its kind to still contain Sir William Lyons’, the found of the Jaguar company, input and detail. Since Mercedes bought Chrysler, the Dodge vehicles I’ve sampled have had a sharp improvement in interior quality. While on the road, the car is very solid and the seats are comfortable even on long highway runs.

As much as I like the looks, after driving it a while I really have to question the design concept that the Magnum offers. It is a station wagon built to transport a lot of people and a lot of stuff. But mating this with a powerful engine with the taught racing-like suspension is uncomfortable for both. It is like having a Corvette tow a small trailer, and you are in the trailer and the Corvette driver is 15 years-old, pushing the car to its limits. (Only an actual Corvette has a much more comfortable suspension than the Magnum). Even driving on smooth roads, the steering is very darty and difficult to control. And with a large car, all that weaving and road feedback is exaggerated for the passengers and everything you’ve stored in the back.

I like having a navigation system, but figuring out how to use it with the steering wheel controls made me frequently refer to the user’s manual. In spite of the high horsepower and low-end torque I played with when starting from a full stop, the RT model I drove averaged 20 MPG on the higway.

What I presume to be the target market for this car, those 18-22 year-old guys that I mentioned, will probably love this car. And as much as I love driving sports cars, the darty steering and sharp suspension make it too uncomfortable without any spectacular payoff. The 0-60 sprint is fun for a little while, but I’d pass on buying a Magnum as a daily driving vehicle.
